East Scarsdale
The District is made up of five Scout Groups, a Young Leader Unit and three Explorer Scout Units, providing opportunities for young people aged four to eighteen. Together, these sections offer a wide range of activities that help young people develop confidence, teamwork and practical skills, while enjoying adventure and making new friends in a safe and supportive environment.
Our origins
East Scarsdale was a result of the splitting of Chesterfield District as it was becoming to large. The District stretches from Inkersall in the West, to Whitwell in the East, Killamarsh in the North to Shirebrook in the South with locations in, Bolsover and Clowne in between.
Our members
East Scarsdale is one of the 14 district’s in Derbyshire, catering for young people between the ages of 6 and 25 with a total membership of around 250 (and growing).
Scouts
Scouting in the UK provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for half a million young people (including 60,000 girls). Internationally over 28 million young people and 4 million adult volunteers enjoy the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries.
What we do
In Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life and young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves. As a District we support our groups and units to encourage local young people to do more, learn more and be more. Each week, we support our members by providing the opportunity to enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed!
